DAY 1

9:05– 9:15 Welcome – Introduction – Course Overview

9:15 – 9:25 Introduction: Overview Elastic Kinesiology Tape
General information, history, characteristics, what it does, how it works, and benefits. Why Tape?

9:25 – 10:00 Equine Hair and Physiological Influence
A general understanding of basic hair / skin connection and muscles impacted by kinesiology taping. Elastic kinesiology tape and its physiological influence. The muscle connection. How it works.

10:00 – 10:30 Equi-Tape® Patterns & Cuts
Discussion / Demonstration. Pertinent information regarding tape construction, development, taping patterns and cuts, and application goals.

10:30 – 10:40 MORNING BREAK

10:40 – 11:30 What is the Equi-Taping® Method? Equi-Tape® Basics. Handling the Tape / Cutting Different Patterns / Applying the Tape to Each Other
Description of tape, typical uses of, types of patterns and cuts, methodology basics, and discussion of surface preparation and technique.

11:30 – 1:00 Equi-Taping® Methodology – Application Guidelines
Covers the five (5) essential Equi-Taping® Application Guidelines including Assessment, Taping Objective, Application Goal, Techniques, and Considerations. Specific attention will be given to Therapeutic and Athletic Training Objectives and the Application Goals and Techniques in support of those Objectives. Basic principles with regard to working with and handling the tape will be discussed including how to cut and prepare the tape for maximum benefit as well as basic taping protocols such as stretch, direction of application, and patterns and cuts.

Muscle Relaxation & Muscle Assist – Applications Goals & Techniques – discussion & practicum
Likelihood for success related to chosen application goals and best practice technique will be discussed.

1:00 – 1:20 LUNCH

1:20 – 2:30 Joint / Ligament / Tendon Support – Applications Goals & Techniques – discussion & practicum
Likelihood for success related to chosen application goals and best practice technique will be discussed.

2:30 – 2:40 AFTERNOON BREAK (Slide 39)

2:40 – 3:30 Circulation / Fascia – Applications Goals & Techniques – discussion & practicum
Likelihood for success related to chosen application goals and best practice technique will be discussed.

3:30 – 4:30 Decompression/Stimulation/Advance – Applications Goals & Techniques – discussion & practicum
Likelihood for success related to chosen application goals and best practice technique will be discussed.

4:30 – 5:00 Review and discussion of the days’ activities.


DAY 2 PLEASE NOTE:
8:00 – 8:30 Summary & Review:
Review of prior day’s content. In particular reinforcing Equi-Taping® Guidelines specifically related to Assessment and Application Goals.

8:30 – 9:00 Patterns & Cuts – Review
Review of patterns and cuts including a visual Photo Gallery of taping applications.

9:00 – 9:15 Considerations
Topics include additional considerations impacting your client relationship including integrating Equi-Taping® services into your practice. Guidelines for establishing an appropriate fee structure. Taping challenges related to weather, coat condition, location of application, adhesiveness and other related topics will be discussed.

9:15 – 10:15 CASE STUDY 1 – Review & Discussion (Muscle Assist / Muscle Relaxation)
Practicum

Course attendees will be given an assessment and they will be asked to determine the best Taping Objective supported by an Application Goal.
Practicum – Bring your experience together in an active team approach to problem solving

10:15 – 10:30 BREAK

10:30 – 11:30 CASE STUDY 2 – Review & Discussion (Joint / Ligament / Tendon Support)
Practicum

Course attendees will be given an assessment and they will be asked to determine the best Taping Objective supported by an Application Goal.
Practicum – Bring your experience together in an active team approach to problem solving

11:30 – 12:00 LUNCH

12:00 – 1:30 CASE STUDY 3 – Review & Discussion (Circulation, Fascia, Decompression, Stimulation)
Practicum

Course attendees will be given an assessment and they will be asked to determine the best Taping Objective supported by an Application Goal.
Practicum – Bring your experience together in an active team approach to problem solving

1:30 – 3:00 CONCLUSION
Final review. Discussion of the timeline for certification, benefits, additional course offerings, completion of the course evaluation form, and other related topics.
